What is this story you are trying to publish about?

Trust. Redemption. Resumption. Pride. Honour. Friendship. Family. Social Justice. Making your stand. The first story in what may be an Ennealogy, or longer, is the smallest, but sets up several themes which play an important role throughout the entire series. Of course, the most apparent theme that holds many sub-themes to it would be that of death. The fear of death. The inevitability of death. The consequences of death. The avoidence of death. The acceptance of death. As the story unfolds, these themes begin to leak out of the characters like the yolk of a cracked egg.

The first story focuses specifically on a private mercenary army brigade and their mission in a small country town based in a fantasy/sci-fi world parrallel to our own. Their being there, their actions there and the ramifications of their mission is the tiny snowball that begins tumbling down the side of the mountain, gaining speed and size as is falls, to turn into the giant sphere of snow that could topple a giant.

We are given many perspectives throughout the story. Never staying on one character for an extended period of time, always leaping in and out of someones view point to achieve an overall picture of the large mosaic, rather than being confined to only see one panel.

If you would like to know more about the story, feel free to leave a comment or email me and I will update accordingly and even post snippets.

What is Call of the Hawks?

Dear reader,

Call of the Hawks is a publishing campaign designed to help an unpublished author aquire the book publishing he desires. Getting a manuscript into book format in Australia is a task not many wish to undertake, as it is a hard and tedious quest sending out queries and synopsis' to a variety of different agencies, who are indeed helpful but are reluctant to take on new clients.

My name is Kevin James John Carpenter, and I am 17 years old, currently attending my final year of High School at Jamison High where I am one of the Vice Captains. I like to spend my spare time reading, writing, keeping in shape at the gym, going for bike rides and walking in natural reserves. All of which pay tribute to my writing, each activity sprouting new ideas in my mind. I currently have no permanent job, and so have much spare time on my hands which I use to my advantage.
For the past three years I have been working on a book series of my own. Plotting, planning and writing. It started as nothing more than an online role playing adventure with one of my closest friends, but it quickly evolved into a passion and almost a job of mine, to build this world, and mould it into existance.
So after two years of work and figuring out where exactly it is I should start writing my story, I started work on the first book in this series early november last year which I worked on consistantly until July of this year.
With the first book complete, now the obvious question is, how to get it out into the world? Find an agent? Find an editor? Find a publisher? Self-publish? It is alot to think about, and for a 17 year old half of it goes way over my head, and the other half goes way way over.
I've sent out a query to many agencies and have failed to hear a positive reply, if any reply from most. So, now I ask for your help.
I have designed this blog for everyone to learn abit about the first chapter in this large story I have to tell, and to hear their opinions on it, and of course for a source to find help in transferring this project into book format so the world can read it.
It is not about the money. It is about the look on peoples faces when the read the story. It is about telling the tale only few have heard. It is about continuing story telling through paper rather than converting everything into a movie.

If you have any information at all that could help in publishing my book, please, contact me at:

All help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
Kevin James John
